Such defacements started in May 1998 and continued during Kargil War in 1999 and then during that era when the tension between India and Pakistan was at its peak from Dec 2001 to 2002. Therefore, the period between 1999 to 2002 was very crucial, when the troops were busy across the LOC exchanging gunshots and the hackers busy in defacing sites of each others.

According to attrition.org, a web site that tracks computer security related developments on the Internet, show that attacks on Indian websites increased from 4 in 1999 to 72 in 2000 where as the Pakistani websites were hacked 7 times in 1999 and 18 times in 2000. During the first half of 2001, 150 Indian websites were defaced.

During Kargil war, the first Indian site reported to be hacked was http://www.armyinkashmir.com, established by the Indian government to provide factual information about daily events in the Kashmir Valley. The hackers posted photographs showing Indian military forces allegedly killing Kashmiri militants. The pictures sported captions like 'Massacre,' Torture,' 'Extrajudicial execution' and 'The agony of crackdown' and blamed the Indian government for its alleged atrocities in Kashmir. That was followed by defacement of numerous Indian governmental sites and reciprocal attacks on Pakistani sites.



Two prominent Pakistani hacker groups are PHC (Pakistan Hackers Club) and G-Force. The founder of PHC is Dr. Nuker. The US Department of Justice has identified "Doctor Nuker" as Misbah Khan of Karachi. Misbah Khan was involved in defacement of the official site of AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee). Doctor Nuker struck back with an interview to a magazine Newsbytes where he claimed that the 'federal grand jury made a mistake in indicting Misbah Khan of Karachi' and that 'he merely uses insecure servers in Pakistan to get online anonymously'. Doctor Nuker has been featured in international publications including Time and Newsweek.

G-Force is based in Lahore and it consists of eight members. Both Pakistan Hackers Club and G-Force are professional hackers with a specific aim: to work for the cause of Kashmir and Palestine. It is still to be seen how their hackings are helping the cause of Palestine or Kashmir! Pakistan Hackers Club has been around since quite long and apart from Indian site, they have defaced many USA and Israeli sites including US Department of Energy's site. G-Force was founded in May 1999 after the nuclear tests and their initial target was Indian sites but after 9/11, their concentration has been shifted to US-based sites. According to zone-h.org, G-Force has successfully defaced 212 sites. G-Force's "achievements" includes National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency and three military sites associated with the US Defence Test and Evaluation Professional Institute.

During this cyberwar, in December 2000, a wired.com news story created waves that claimed that an Indian hacker's group "Patriotic Indians" has defaced the official site of Pakistani government pakgov.org. Later, it was revealed that the actual site of Pakistani government is pak.gov.pk, not pakgov.org and pakgov.org was in fact registered by the alleged hacker himself with fake information.

On the Indian side, there are various hackers groups that have defaced Pakistani sites. Among them, the most famous one is H2O or the Hindustan Hackers Organization. However, the independent as well as Indian analysts admit that at this cyber-front, Pakistan has always been winning this war. There are two main reasons for this. Firstly, Pakistani hackers are organized in groups where as most of the Indian hackers are working as solo. Secondly and the most important reason is the religious motivation of the hackers based in Pakistan, to do something for the cause of Muslim brothers & sisters in Palestine and Kashmir.

At the government level, both the countries are doing their best to curb hacktivism. NIC (National Informatics Centre) of India and Cybercrime division of FIA (Federal Investigation Authority) in Pakistan are taking necessary steps to eliminate all forms of cybercrime, including hacking.

Home Based Business Struggle: How I Was Saved by the System

This true story recounts the unhappy situation I was in about six months ago… See if it’s similar in some ways to what you’re currently experiencing with your home based business opportunity (my bet is the majority of you reading this will relate…)

I was involved with a top-notch, first class company. The two owners and co-founders were the crème de la crème of accomplished entrepreneurs and astute businesspeople. The products I was marketing were unique, high-demand, stand-alone products. My upline was the most knowledgeable and most supportive a sponsor can be. The compensation plan was very generous, and easy to understand and explain. The company’s business overview website was awesome. Sounds like I had it all, doesn’t it?

I was generating my own leads (about 70 to 80 a week) through my own website. I was creating traffic for that site via pay-per-click, article marketing, and a few other ways that included safelists, classified ads, and other online advertising. No purchased (crappy) leads for me, thank you very much!

Well, when you look at this picture, you think I must have been raking it in, don’t you? Heck no. I was actually shelling it out. I was spending more money on marketing than I was earning through sales and residual income. That’s probably a unique situation that nobody else reading this has ever experienced. Right? (LOL) (;-)

So what was wrong? Well, it’s a well-known fact that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Want to know what the weak link was? I’ll tell you because I have nothing to hide: I (me, me, me) was the weak link. But how come? I had all the elements in place, plus a lot of Network Marketing experience (having been involved with a few companies off and on since 1993), and a very, very strong desire to succeed with my home business).

Now, I was not broke, or needy. If you read our story on the .biz site referenced in the Resource Box, you’ll see that we had other sources of income and we were doing pretty well. But I wanted, absolutely wanted, to conquer this home based business monster once and for all, and take in 20, 30, 40 thousand dollars each month like my sponsor and many others in the team were doing.

Here was the problem: I did not like calling those 70 to 80 leads to explain me, explain the concept (of Network Marketing and Direct Sales), explain the company, the product, the compensation plan. Ok, let me level with you here: “did not like” is not accurate: I HATED it!

And what happens when you hate doing something? Maybe like mowing the lawn, detailing the car, cleaning the house, doing your income tax, visiting your in-laws? Well, you procrastinate as long as you can, you do as little of it as you can, and you don’t do it with heart and enthusiasm. And as a result, you don’t do it well.

THAT was the problem: I was not doing it (prospecting) well. I was taking too long to call people, I was giving WAY too much information, I was not pushy enough, I was not doing the three-way calls because that meant… making another phone call.

Because of that sub-par performance, I was signing up very few new associates. But I persisted to the best of my (in)abilities. Three months ago however, I was ready to throw in the towel. I was thinking of giving up, not only on my business opportunity, but on MLM, Network Marketing and Direct Sales as a whole.

Then, a miracle happened. And I was saved.

Here’s what happened. One of the top earners of the company realized that there were probably hundreds, perhaps thousands of people in his organization who were struggling just as I was. He decided to come up with a solution to the problem and the result was that he designed a Marketing System. This system eliminated all of the “variables”, dramatically reduced learning curves, eliminated guess-work and increased results for everyone. The chances for success went waaaaayyy up!

It actually took him over four years of trials-and-errors and over $400,000 to perfect the System, but from what we can see now, it was really worth it. What’s that? But there’s more! After they “close” MY prospects for me, they train them to join the System and duplicate my “efforts” (LOL) so the new recruits can enjoy their life while the pros are doing the nastiest part of the work FOR them. As a result, the newbies have added many new people to my team, and every time that happens, my PayPal account goes ka-ching!

The System’s secret (if you want to call it that) is that it eliminates most of the interactions (like selling, telling, explaining and closing) between the marketer and the customer until AFTER the sale is made and the money is deposited into the marketer’s bank account! Doing that eliminates the individual marketer's sales and marketing abilities and skills (or lack of) as variables for their success. By essentially removing the new marketer from the equation, one can focus on building the business while "outsourcing" the most difficult sales and marketing aspects to the pros running the System.

And because of that, many new marketers with little or no experience in this industry are NOW finally seeing results. Many people who have NEVER achieved success in this industry, are now making money. Many in their first month!

So now, life is beautiful, every day. I’ve stopped struggling in home business hell, and I’m now having fun and making mucho dinero in home business heaven. And yet, I’m still in the same industry, with the same company and marketing plan, marketing the same product, under the same sponsor. But the Marketing System I use is different (like day and night).

Am I suggesting that you stop searching for a legitimate, profitable work at home business opportunity and start looking for something else entirely? Of course not. Home based income opportunities have great potential (the legitimate ones anyway). You just have to find one that offers a Marketing System that actually works.

Just find a SYSTEM that helps YOU help a lot of people get as much of what they want as fast as possible, and apply leverage. The more effectively you can do this, the more money you will make. It's really that simple. You can make tidal waves of cash if you get this right. I know because I’m doing that (tidal waves of cash). And I can tell you that it feels REALLY good to FINALLY taste success.

Let's start with me and see if you can relate to my circumstance.

I started working when I was twelve years old. Didn't make much money and spent what I made on anything I could get my hands on. I worked for fast food establishments as a teenager, because that is what we all do at that age for the most part. It is hard work. There is not much appreciation at the workplace. You can be replaced easily even though you think you may not be able to be replaced. Keep working hard and you may keep your job.

This just sets the precedence for the rest of your life. I joined the military in my early twenties. They pushed the concept of NCO (No chance outside) telling you that you have the best job available for your skill set...for about half of what you would make if your were to do the same thing in a civilian job. Even so, you join their clubs and socialize (in the 80s we called this drinking).

I got out of the military and finished a B.S. in Computer Science while unloading trucks, and setting records, for the largest employer in the United States. I'm a big guy. I have worked on training applications for a sister company to a Fortune 500 engineering and construction company, data collection applications for the largest vending and food distribution company in the United States, and cardiology computer systems for one of the largest employers in the Carolinas.

I continue to work for these companies and find myself broke, stressed out, disenchanted, and desperate. Being computer literate, and having used the internet for about 15 years, I asked myself the question why have I not tried to start an online home based business? Len, you are smart enough to do something like this and you are not happy doing what you are doing now, why don't you try to do something different?

So I did do something different, part time. I love this online home based business so much that my biggest hope is to make it a full time venture. My market is other people who want to do the same and who are asking lot's of questions about how to do it. I give them the same answers in this article.

I spend most of my spare time, about two hours a day, researching and writing articles. You can find them all if you search hard enough (Hint - search for my name in Google and look at the top). I do not have a lot at this point. I am still pretty new at this. The results of my efforts are evident though; because I am already on page one of Google and MSN for some of my keywords after only 5 months of work. I am sure that I am making some of the other online home based business owners very angry because now they have to work a little harder to maintain their placement in the search engines. Oh well!

I do not get real fancy about marketing my online home based business. I am not spamming with email because I do not do any email marketing. I don't do it because I don't like any of the spam I am currently receiving or asking for at least half the time. I am more likely to stop an e-zine subscription just because I am receiving the same message over and over again (Hear that Allen?). I have not been able to figure out the science of Google Adwords, so I do not spend any money on ads.

That is for later when my business is more profitable than it is and I can afford it. I have never been able to generate the kind of traffic with Adwords that I get from articles anyway.

Here are the things that I do on a routine basis so far:

1. articles - Write original content for the article directories and use Article Submitter Pro to submit them.

2. Search Engine Optimization - Brad Callen's SEO Made Easy is a guideline to optimize articles and web pages(online and
offline optimization).

3. Linking Popularity - Research external link partners and link to as many as is humanly possible. I also do a lot of internal linking.

4. Blogging - This is a great source for content and internal linking. I always link my posts back to all of my web pages.

5. Article Directory - Owning an article directory is the fastest way to get internal back links. Every article contains a sponsor link back to the main web page.

6. Directory Submission - Directory Submitter has hundreds of internet directories for both one way and reciprocal links.

7. Forum Posting - Here it is again with the one way links. I think the search engines just like to see the online home based business owner engaged regularly.

8. Looking at junk email. Sorry if I step on any toes here, but I made the mistake of submitting my website to the FFAs (Free For All). They sent me a thousand emails in one day! I didn't know! This has tapered off now. Something about reporting it as spam to Yahoo (Oops!). I got banned from one of them, but that is OK. I don't like it when someone emails me saying that my ads are not working. I wish spam would go away.

9. Take lot's of pictures - Used effectively in the article directory profiles and your own web pages is an extraordinary introduction!

10. Relax and enjoy it - My main web page got 399 visits yesterday. The trend is up. My Alexa rank is down, which is a good thing.

11. Start thinking - you know, this might just make it!

Expect no support from friends or family. Look at the surprise on their faces when your web page shows up on page one of the search engines. The online home based business owner looks for a rescue that can only come from within and is expressed in the design of something like a web page or an article. That and their friends in the forums who are going through the same thing. Relief from the markets of drudgery and slavery could be just around the corner with all of that help.

Day Care Contract

A vital aspect of your day care business is having a foolproof, comprehensive contract in place. I can't stress enough the importance of spending some time on this crucial document. Believe me when I tell you that a well crafted contract can save you from much potential grief and gnashing of teeth (I speak from painful experience!!).

Essentially your day care contract sets out your terms, conditions, policies, rules and procedures and, quite simply, should indicate to all parents who you are, what you do, how you do it, what your expectations are in terms of their behavior and how you deal with complaints and transgressions. There should be no gray areas, nothing left to chance or misinterpretation.

So, I hear you holler - what should be in this epic tome and how do I even get started! Well, as it happens I have more than a few years of operational experience in this madcap world of day cares and, through much trial, error and ongoing learning have a pretty good idea of the stuff that you need to address. Allow me to give you a few tips and pointers but I'll leave you to do the work of fleshing it out and personalizing your own contract….what?? You don't get off scott free y'know….now get those pencils out!!

It's usually a good idea to start at the beginning so here you could wax lyrical about your ethos and mission statement. Try and incorporate every aspect of a child starting in your day care i.e. what enrollment forms are required, the specific hours/days that care is required, necessary supplies, whether or not you institute a trial period (unfortunately, not everyone adjusts for various reasons) and detail your termination policy (if you kick my dog on the way in you're outta here!!). Incredibly important stuff yet often glossed over are your opening hours, holiday closures, maximum numbers catered, staff to child ratios, license and insurance details. Sticking to some of the nitty, gritty minutiae you could then launch into your payment policy. Spell it out: how much, when due, what's covered, non-attendance and holiday situations (everyone needs a holiday but what happens regarding payment??), how and who to pay (you'd be amazed!), your hard line on late fees (this can be the single most destructive aspect of any day care/parent relationship, should be consistently enforced and clearer than clear), your rate increase policy and the reservations/deposits procedure.

Next up I have a general section where I ramble on about the different rooms, programs enacted, beg that toys from home stay at home, information on meals, diaper changing routine and detail a little about my drop off/pick up/settling in procedures (dropping a child off down the chimney is not really encouraged!). My behavior policy is included where I make it very clear exactly what I do in specific situations and…what I don't do (tying a child to a tree is not really an option!). The toilet training policy emphasizes the importance of parent and provider working together and it's helpful to detail your requirements in terms of clothing etc (it's all very well to have a child run around au naturel at home but when you have vast quantities of toilet training toddlers….well, think about it!!).

A HUGE area of recurring problems and issues is that of illness. Set down stringent guidelines for your health and illness policy so that there is no doubt as to what your actions will be given specific symptoms and signs. Ultimately, you cannot have a contagious child in your day care and a sick child should be at home….period. The sign over my door does not say Doctor's Surgery. Inform parents when you will call them and that you expect the child to be collected within a specific time frame. Following on from this you can explain your medication administration policy (both prescribed and non prescribed) which will incorporate the necessary forms.

Communication with parents is vital so let them know your preferred method i.e. informal, verbal report in the evening, individual report sheets or a little daily journal. Reassure them though that, while you may be busy they can also make an appointment to meet with you for a more in-depth discussion should the need arise. Scheduling annual parent/teacher meetings is another effective method of ensuring that everyone is up to date and on the same page.

So, there you have it! The day care contract or parent handbook in a nutshell…grin. Admittedly there is a lot to consider and quite frankly, this is an organic document that will evolve with your business. Stuff will happen and you will amend your paperwork accordingly. However, I hope that my pointers go some way towards getting you on the road to (even thinking) about formulating your contract.
